Globe valves derive their name from the rounded bodies/spherical shape and are widely used in fitting industry to regulate fluid flow in both on/off and throttling service. These linear motion valves consist of moving parts including disk, the valve stem, and the hand wheel.

Uses of Globe valves:
Globe valves are used where throttling is required.
They are also used where both throttling and shut-off required.
Globe valves can also be used for on-off service.
They are mostly confined to those applications where the valve is normally closed and drop is not important when the valve is open.
They are also commonly used in those situations where minimum pressure drop and bidirectional on-off service is required.

In other words, check valve is a mechanical device that allows fluid to flow through it in only one direction. Check valves consist of two-port valves. This means that they have two openings in the body, one for fluid to enter and the other for fluid to leave. That is why they are classified as “one-directional valves”. Working of a check valve:
There is a hinged ball or door which is placed inside the valve. With the pressure coming upstream the ball is held open. On the other hand, when the pressure increases on the downstream side, it forces the ball or door to close which stops any back flow. An important factor in check valves is the cracking pressure. This is the minimum upstream pressure at which the valve will operate. Typically the check valve is designed in such a way to specify a specific cracking pressure.

A butterfly valve is a rotary motion valve. The main purpose of butterfly valve is used to stop, regulate, and start fluid flow. This type of valve is easily and quickly operated because there is a 90 degree rotation of the handle which moves the disk from a fully closed to fully opened position. Butterfly valves are available in various sizes and materials. Infact, the larger sized butterfly valves are actuated by hand wheels which are connected to the stem through gears and they provide mechanical advantage at the expense of speed.
Parts of a butterfly valve:
The butterfly valve consists of only five main components. They are as follows:
Body: These valves have bodies that fit between two pipe flanges.
Disc: The disk is the flow closure member of a butterfly valve.
Stem: The stem of the butterfly valve is either a one-piece shaft or a two-piece, also known as split-stem design.
Seat: The seat of a butterfly valve utilizes an interference fit between the disk edge and the seat to close or to shutoff.

A ball valve is a type of pipe vale that opens by turning a handle attached to a ball inside the valve. They are used for quick shut off and low emission application. They are durable and can work to achieve perfect shutoff or closure even after years of not-in- use. They are always an excellent choice for shutoff applications. They are sometimes preferred to globe valves and gate valves for this purpose. Types of ball valves:
There are three general types of ball valves:
Full port: This has an over sized ball so that the hole in the ball is of the same size as the pipeline thereby resulting in lower friction loss. The valve is larger and the flow is unrestricted.
Standard port: This has a smaller ball and hence a smaller port. This is less expensive. Flow through this type of butterfly valve is one pipe size smaller than the valve's pipe size which results in slightly restricted flow.
Reduced port: Here the flow through the valve is two pipe sizes smaller than the valve's pipe size which also results in restricted flow.
